I was asked to Design UC IRvine's Graduation Mace
My original design. It is now hanging in the UC Irvine Alumni Building near the mace itself.

I was invited to serve as UCI's Mace Marshal for 2024. I was honored to carry the mace that I designed.
Just after sculpting Form No. 2 for UCI's Chancellor's Rose Garden in 2000, I was asked to design a ceremonial graduation mace. I immediately thought of the mace forming the head of an anteater, which was UCI's mascot.

If you look closely at the above photo, you'll see that there are two eyes just below his upper hand and a snout at the bottom. There are also anteater claws holding up the golden globe. Below the globe are the names of all of UCI's Chancellors.
